Spring in Ada’s garden

Dear Editor:
Spring in Blanding has arrived. There are always those rare people who make a mark on other people’s lives by quietly going about being who they are. Ada Rigby is one of those precious souls who spread her talents throughout a community with gentle dignity.
Several years ago, far away from Blanding, I was thinking of how much I missed home and Ada’s Garden. For years, beautiful flowers appeared every week at church for everyone to enjoy. From the earliest spring to the latest fall, Ada could find the most amazing things for her fantastic bouquets.
Sitting at my computer that day I thought of all the times I had watched Ada tending her garden and wrote how it made me feel. The memory made me happy.
Now weeds are growing in her garden...and she is far away from her beloved Blanding waiting to go home...and I am sad.
Ada’s Garden
Icicles melt, snow disappears, and
birds sing their happy songs
as Ada faithfully prepares
her garden,
Spring, summer and fall friends and
neighbors are invited to share
the bounteous harvest
from Ada’s garden
As Winter snow cover the flowers
we are sad to see them go, but
happy Ada won’t forget
to awaken Spring
What a sad day it will be
When Ada goes home
In Ada’s garden
