Tyrell Bailey named as new city manager for Monticello

The City of Monticello has named Tyrell Bailey as the new City Manager to fill the vacancy created by the October 22 resignation of Greg Westfall.
Bailey was selected by a committee from 22 applicants for the position. Six of the applicants were interviewed for the opening.
Bailey has previously worked as the Bureau Chief for the Utah Division of Emergency Management. His work has brought him into close proximity with city and county officials as they coordinate emergency response plans.
Despite the fact that he works in downtown Salt Lake City, Bailey has lived in Grantsville, UT for several years. He stated in his application, “I commute to work for 45 minutes in order to raise our four children in a rural community.”
Tyrell grew up in Heyburn, ID and his wife comes from Evanston, WY, so they are familiar with the idea of raising their family in a rural setting.
Bailey’s education includes a Masters Degree in Public Education and he is a Certified Public Manager. Along with his education, he has eleven years of on-the-job experience.
Bailey will begin his new job on January 5, 2015. The family will move to Monticello in the coming months.
Bailey certainly sports a “hometown” name, with Monticello already having several Tyrell’s, and there is no shortage of Baileys.
He said he is excited for this new experience for the Bailey family. City officials, including the mayor, city councilmen, and city employees state that they are looking forward to his arrival.
